It’s hard to believe that the debut book of my Zoey Lyndon chapter book series has been out for one year. This year has been filled with a range of emotions and I’ve definitely had my share of ups and downs. The thing that amazed me the most is the impact that my book has had on readers. I’ve had approximately 75 Zoom meetings this past year, 5 book signings (3 of which were sold out events), and I’ve released the second book in the book series (Zoey Lyndon and the Sticky Finger Bandit). I’m currently working on the third book in series and hope to have it released sometime this spring.
A few things that I’ve learned along the way during my writing journey are as follows:
- Never stop writing.
- Treat it like a business
- I’m not in competition with anyone.
- Do what works best for me.
I’ve met a couple of really special people over this past year and their friendship has become invaluable to me. The first couple of months that Zoey Lyndon’s Big Move to the Lou was released, I had sold a couple thousand copies in during the first few months and I was completely flabbergasted! My book was released in the middle of Covid and it had surpassed my wildest expectations. Needless to say, reality set in after about four months and my sales slowed down quite a bit. Through it all I would say that I had an amazing debut year and would consider it to have been a successful year.
