For a long time I have wanted to create my own hand blown glass creation. Before my family moved to the St. Louis area, I visited a really cool place in Bethlehem, PA that would display their glass creations regularly. I became a fan of hand blown glass creations and sculpted glass.
Recently I had the opportunity to have my own experience with hand blown glass at the Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. This was such a unique experience and I learned a lot about glass creations. I chose to make an orb and was able to select my own colors and begin the process of melting the glass and colors together. The glass had to be repeatedly put into a 600 degree furnace to soften and blend the colors. There was a particular type of tool that was used to shape the glass. I had to blow air into the glass a few times to get it to the desired size.
This was such a fun escapade and I was especially glad that my college girlfriends had the opportunity to share this experience with me. Everyone made their own glass art creation that reflected their own individual personality.
